Mitratel (MTEL) Secures Green Financing of Rp 500 Billion for Digital Infrastructure
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - PT Dayamitra Telekomunikasi Tbk (MTEL) or Mitratel has obtained a Green Trade Loan facility from HSBC Indonesia worth Rp 500 billion. This credit facility is short-term and uncommitted, specifically intended for financing needs that meet green or sustainable criteria. The funding will be used to accelerate the development of a sustainable telecommunications tower infrastructure ecosystem to promote equitable digital access in Indonesia, including through the expansion of Fiber to the Tower networks. Mitratel’s President Director, Theodorus Ardi Hartoko, stated that this green financing facility is part of the company’s strategic steps to strengthen the implementation of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles across all business activities. “This Green Trade Loan facility is an important part of Mitratel’s strategy to strengthen the construction of sustainable digital infrastructure in Indonesia. This is our commitment to ensuring that business expansion is carried out responsibly,” said Theodorus in a press release on Thursday (14/5/2026). Mitratel also emphasised the company’s focus on supporting equitable and sustainable connectivity through green tower initiatives. The company stated that this approach not only improves operational efficiency but also strengthens the company’s role in supporting the clean energy transition in the digital infrastructure sector. “This collaboration reflects the strength of Mitratel’s ESG fundamentals. This is evident from the company’s ESG Risk Rating achievement at 18.8 with a Low Risk category based on Morningstar Sustainalytics’ assessment, which demonstrates Mitratel’s ability to consistently manage sustainability risks amid ongoing business growth,” Theodorus continued. As Indonesia’s largest telecommunications infrastructure company in terms of tower ownership, Mitratel stated that it continues to strengthen the digital ecosystem through the integration of tower services, fibre, and energy solutions. This Green Trade Loan agreement also reflects the increasing support from the financial sector for sustainable financing in the telecommunications and digital infrastructure sectors in Indonesia.
