Misuse of State Assets: Pramono Anung Warns of Severe Sanctions for Civil Servants Mudik Using Official Cars

Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung has issued a firm instruction regarding state assets ahead of Idulfitri, prohibiting all officials and civil servants within the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government from using official vehicles for mudik Lebaran. ‘Anything related to using official cars for mudik, I will not permit,’ he said in Central Jakarta on Saturday, 7 March. He stressed that this instruction is not merely a suggestion; authorities will not hesitate to impose consequences on any official who dares to take a car with a red plate to their hometown. ‘Whoever violates this will face heavy sanctions. So, for official cars used by DKI Jakarta officials, it is not allowed at all.’ The ban on using official vehicles aligns with directives from the central government via the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Corruption Eradication Commission. Legislation PER/87/M.PAN/8/2005 explicitly states that official vehicles are only for functional operational purposes. Disciplinary sanctions apply to all civil servants; sanctions will be determined according to the severity of the violation. This step is taken to ensure the integrity of civil servants and that public facilities are used strictly for their official purposes.
