The video posted by the account @faturahman_faqih shows several examples of rail fasteners described as missing. In the video, the recorder is seen accompanied by a boy sitting at the edge of the railway line. ‘It is missing, KAI. Here it is again,’ the recorder says. Separately, Franoto Wibowo, Public Relations Manager for KAI Daop 1 Jakarta, said staff had checked the location. He assured that train journeys on that section remain safe. ‘In response to videos circulating on social media alleging that several pendrol or rail fasteners are missing, PT KAI Daop 1 Jakarta confirms that the railway journey remains safe and under control,’ Franoto said in a statement on Thursday (5/3/2026). Regularly, KAI staff inspect the track for components such as sleepers and pendrol (rail fasteners). Staff will promptly follow up if any components found require replacement according to applicable standards. This has become the standard operating procedure pursued by KAI as part of routine and layered oversight to ensure infrastructure is confirmed safe for trains to pass. He stressed that the railway track construction system has technical standards and tolerances that are taken into account. ‘If some rail-fastening components are found to be reduced, the condition remains within safe operating parameters, as long as it stays within the tolerance limits set,’ he said. He also reminded residents not to play in railway crossing areas. ‘KAI highlights that filming with two children on the railway track is a very dangerous act,’ he added. ‘KAI also urges the public not to be on railway tracks without legitimate purpose or authority.’
