Missing Gunungkidul Man Found Dead After Wedding Accident

Dana Mayriza, 34, from Karangmojo, Gunungkidul, was reported missing after returning from a wedding on Saturday (10 October) night. He was later found dead following a single-vehicle accident.

“On Sunday (11 October), the victim’s wife asked his friends about her husband’s whereabouts,” Rongkop Police Chief AKP Subarsana told reporters by phone on Monday (12 October 2026).

Police said Dana was being sought after he failed to return home from a wedding in Tejo, Pucanganom, Rongkop, on Saturday (10 October), despite leaving the venue at 8.45pm.

His wife then contacted his friends, who immediately organised a search.

Dana was found dead on Monday morning.

“Witnesses then searched for the victim along a road in the Janglot area. After searching, they found him on a slope this morning, dead,” Subarsana said.

Police said Dana died in a single-vehicle accident. They also found his Yamaha RX King motorcycle, registration number AB 3571 AW, damaged.

Subarsana said he was found at 5.30am. The victim was identified as Dana Mayriza, 34, a resident of Kelor, Karangmojo, Gunungkidul.

“On examination, the victim had injuries to his head and left shoulder,” he said.

Subarsana said Dana was believed to have been riding from Pucanganom towards Semanu. At the Bulak Bogor hill, however, he was unable to control the motorcycle.

“Because he could not control his speed, the motorcycle veered left, hit a teak tree and then fell down the slope,” he said.

Subarsana added that after he was found, Dana’s body was taken to Panti Rahayu Hospital in Karangmojo. Following an examination, it was handed over to his family.
