Missing for Two Days, Tangerang Student Found Dead at Pandeglang Beach

A student from Tangerang named Sammy Alvitrano Nurwahid Prasetyo (17) was found dead at Camara Beach, Banyuasih Village, Cigeulis District, Pandeglang Regency. The victim is believed to have died after being swept away by waves whilst swimming near the shore.

“The victim had previously been reported swept away by waves whilst engaging in activities near the beach,” said Banten Search and Rescue Office Team Commander Vicky Meidy on Tuesday (17 February 2026).

Vicky stated that the search for the victim was conducted over two days. He confirmed that by the time the victim was found, he had already been pronounced dead.

Vicky explained that during the search, the team was divided into two units to comb both land and water areas. At approximately 09.30 local time, the victim was found roughly 50 metres from the incident site.

“After conducting an intensive search over two days, the victim was finally found deceased,” he said.

Vicky stated that the body was immediately evacuated and handed over to the family. With this outcome, the joint SAR team involved in the search operation was officially stood down.

“The victim was evacuated and taken to Sumur Community Health Centre for medical processing before being handed over to the family,” he said.
