The Cilegon Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) has evacuated the body of a man believed to have been missing for 42 days. The body was discovered by a local resident who was gardening.

The body, believed to be that of Saleh (59), was found on Sunday (16/8/2026) at around 10.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. The remains were first discovered by the owner of a garden on Kroya hill, Pabean, Cilegon.

“Chronology: a resident who was carrying out gardening activities around Kroya hill, Pabean, found the body behind some grass at 10.00 a.m. Western Indonesian Time. The body is believed to be that of Mr Saleh, who had been missing for 42 days around the Duku Malang residential area,” said Head of Cilegon BPBD Damanhuri in a statement.

The resident who found the body in the undergrowth then reported it to the local village head. BPBD officers, firefighters and police went to the location to evacuate the body.

The body was successfully evacuated by the joint team at around 12.45 p.m. Western Indonesian Time. The body was then taken to Cilegon Regional General Hospital for further handling.

“At 12.45 p.m. Western Indonesian Time the victim was successfully evacuated and subsequently taken to Panggung Rawi Regional General Hospital for further handling,” he said.
