A farmer named I Ketut Tambun (63) was found dead on a footpath east of the Tinon Cemetery, Manduang Traditional Village, Klungkung, Bali, on Saturday (22/8/2026) afternoon. The man from Sangging Hamlet, Akah Village, had been searched for by his family after failing to return home since Thursday (20/8/2026).

Head of Public Relations of Klungkung Police, Iptu I Dewa Nyoman Alit Purnawibawa, said Tambun had initially left for his rice field on Thursday (20/8/2026) at around 14.00 Wita. However, he did not return until late at night. The family then conducted a search, but to no avail.

“Initially the family suspected the victim was staying overnight at his cousin’s house. However, until Friday night and Saturday morning, the victim had still not returned, so the family conducted another search around the dry field area,” said Alit when confirmed on Saturday (22/8/2026).

The family finally received a lead on Saturday (22/8/2026) at around 11.00 Wita. Tambun’s son, I Wayan Suartika (44), received information from his wife that his father had been found lying on a footpath east of the Tinon Cemetery.

“Upon receiving the news, the witness went to the location and found the victim in a prone position and already dead. The witness then reported to Klungkung Police,” explained Alit.

Joint officers from Klungkung Police, Klungkung Resort Police, and the Klungkung Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) immediately secured the crime scene. Tambun’s body was then evacuated using a Klungkung BPBD vehicle to Klungkung Regional General Hospital at around 12.22 Wita.

According to police statements, the family said Tambun had no previous history of chronic illness. The family has also accepted the incident and declined to file a police report.

“The family has accepted this tragedy and will not pursue legal proceedings. Regarding the exact cause of the victim’s death, we are still awaiting the results of the medical examination from Klungkung Regional General Hospital,” explained Alit.
