Missing Eight-Year-Old Boy Found Dead in Lake in Bekasi

An eight-year-old boy was found dead in a lake in North Cikarang, Bekasi, West Java. The victim had initially been reported missing.

Bekasi Metro Police public relations chief AKP Aliyani said the incident took place on Monday (26 October 2026). At around 4.30am, a witness received a report that a child was missing.

“The witness received a report that a child had gone missing at the scene, then immediately reported it to officers at the North Cikarang Police Station,” Aliyani said on Tuesday (27 October 2026).

Police then checked the location. A search for the boy was carried out with a joint search and rescue team.

“After searching for some time, at around 4.39am, the witness saw a human head floating in the lake,” she said.

The victim was then brought by officers to the lakeside. Police said there were no signs of violence on the boy’s body.

“Identification examinations found no signs of violence. According to witnesses, the victim was thought to have been swimming at the location with several friends,” she said.
