Kuwait activated its air defence system in response to a missile and drone attack. Air raid sirens sounded nationwide as authorities urged citizens to comply with security instructions. The Kuwaiti military stated air defence was activated ’ in response hostile missile and drone attacks’. ‘The General Staff of the Army noted that any explosion heard resulted from air defence systems intercepting hostile attacks,’ it said. ‘All individuals are urged to comply with safety and security instructions issued by authorities,’ it added. The statement did not specify the attack’s origin. Previously, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had targeted a US airbase in a recent strike on Thursday. The attack was described as retaliation for US military actions in southern Iran, according Iranian state television IRIB. ‘Following morning aggression by the US military attacking sites near Bandar Abbas Airport using air projectiles, the US airbase serving as the source was targeted at 04:50 (0120 GMT),’ the IRGC stated, as cited by AFP.
