Miss Venezuela Allegedly Assaulted in Cannes: Here Is the Timeline

The Cannes Film Festival, long synonymous with luxury and celebrity glitz, has come under the spotlight after reports emerged of an alleged assault involving a Venezuelan beauty queen, Andrea del Val, who is known as Miss Venezuela Global 2025. Del Val posted a shocking video on social media showing her face appearing bloodied while filming a hotel room in Cannes, France. The New York Post quotes that in the video, she can be seen with a bloodied face while recording the chaotic state of the hotel room.

Del Val accuses a prominent Venezuelan stylist, Giovanni Laguna, of the alleged assault. “See what Giovanni Laguna did. Congratulations, Giovanni, this is what I want, to show who you really are,” Del Val says in the clip, quoted on Friday (22/5/2026).

The case quickly went viral, drawing international attention as it unfolded amid the prestigious world film festival.

NDTV World reports that the incident occurred while Del Val and Laguna were at the hotel where they were staying for a series of Cannes events. The exact cause of the quarrel remains unclear. However, several reports suggest that a heated exchange in the hotel room may have escalated into a physical confrontation. Hotel guests are said to have heard shouting and commotion from their room before police were called to the scene.

In the video, Del Val can be heard naming Giovanni Laguna while showing the disordered hotel room. Laguna is also seen sitting in a corner of the room as the video was recorded. The video has since been removed from Del Val’s posts.

Not long after the video went viral, Del Val also posted a written statement via Instagram Story. In the Spanish-language post, she thanked the public for their support and said she did not wish to comment further at this stage as the investigation continues.
