Miscalculation: US Fails to Divide Iran

Iran’s Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, said that the United States and its allies have failed to realise their plan to divide Iran. In an interview cited from Tasnim News on Saturday, 7 March 2026, Larijani said that the main aim of the United States and its allies is to divide Iran. However, the solidarity shown by the Iranian people and the state’s management during the war have thwarted the plan.

“In the last few days, Donald Trump and his allies, as well as the Zionists (Israel) and several regional actors, openly stated their main objective in their speeches. Their main aim, he said, is to divide Iran. Their aim is not merely to cause a small change in Iran. From Israel’s perspective of a great country like Iran, such small changes basically do not matter. Therefore, their aim is the disintegration of Iran. Their main worry is Iran itself,” he added.

Referring to the statements by the US president and his posts on social media claiming that Iran is being divided, Larijani said this shows that their main objective since the start of the war has been to create conditions for Iran’s disintegration.
