Misbakhun: QRIS Strengthens UMKM Competitiveness
QRIS not only simplifies transactions but also strengthens the foundation of the people’s economy. Jakarta (ANTARA) - Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mukhamad Misbakhun, stated that the utilisation of the Quick Response Code Indonesian Standard (QRIS) by micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM) can make transactions more effective while strengthening competitiveness. In a statement received in Jakarta on Friday, he said Bank Indonesia introduced QRIS as a practical, secure, and efficient solution to support public transactions, particularly for UMKM. “QRIS not only simplifies transactions but also strengthens the foundation of the people’s economy. UMKM actors can level up because they have better financial recording and more open access to financing,” he said at the Public Talk event of the Bank Indonesia Supervisory Board in Pandaan, Pasuruan Regency, East Java. He assessed that the digitalisation of payment systems has become an inevitability amid increasingly rapid technological developments. The expansion of QRIS reach to the international level, he continued, will increase the competitiveness of Indonesian UMKM in the global market. For this reason, he encouraged UMKM actors to utilise QRIS as a digital payment system to capture broader economic opportunities. “With the wider adoption of QRIS, UMKM in the regions are expected to connect with the digital economic ecosystem and take advantage of larger market opportunities,” he said. According to him, QRIS is a payment system that suits Indonesian conditions, both in terms of infrastructure and security with minimal risk. “QRIS provides ease and security in transacting so that the public no longer depends on cash and the risk of errors can be minimised,” he stated.
