Misbakhun: Prabowo's remarks on the KEM PPKF have no link to the weakening rupiah

Jakarta — The Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Mukhammad Misbakhun, said President Prabowo Subianto’s decision to deliver the Macro Economic Framework and the Key Policy on Fiscal Policy (KEM PPKF) for the 2027 RAPBN was not motivated by the rupiah’s depreciation.

It is known that Prabowo will read the KEM PPKF in a plenary session of the DPR on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

“I do not see that the rupiah’s weakness is a reason for the President to read the KEM PPKF himself,” Misbakhun told reporters at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, 20 May 2026.

Misbakhun assessed that the decision cannot be linked to the current economic conditions where the rupiah exchange rate and the Jakarta Composite Index (IHSG) are weakening.

“But I see that there is a serious concern from the President that the APBN from the outset is a policy that must be sincerely communicated to the public and must be delivered directly by the President,” he said.

“In my view, do not tie the IHSG situation and the rupiah’s weakness to the KEM-PPKF,” he added.

He said the rupiah’s exchange rate will be one of the parameters that will be discussed in this KEM PPKF.

“The exchange rate is only one aspect within our macroeconomic framework. In our macroeconomic assumptions there are many parameters; the exchange rate is only one. In fact, the IHSG is not even on the agenda. But in the KEM-PPKF we will discuss at a macro level what our economy framework for 2027 will begin to look like,” Misbakhun concluded.
