Misbakhun: It is Impossible for Our State Budget to Go Bankrupt!
The Chairman of Commission XI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Mukhamad Misbakhun, assessed that the State Budget (APBN) cannot possibly face bankruptcy. He argued that Indonesia is a wealthy nation with abundant natural resources.
“If anyone says our APBN is bankrupt, it is impossible for us to go bankrupt,” Misbakhun stated during the ‘1 on 1 Legislative’ session at the Jogja Financial Festival in Yogyakarta on Thursday.
According to him, Indonesia still possesses various flagship commodities that serve as the pillars of the national economy, ranging from crude palm oil (CPO) and nickel to plantation and marine products.
“CPO accounts for 40 per cent, nickel even more than 60 per cent; we still produce rubber, coffee, damar, and marine fish. A country as wealthy as Indonesia cannot become a bankrupt nation,” he said.
Misbakhun added that the public needs to understand economic conditions rationally and should not be easily influenced by information that creates excessive fear regarding the national economic situation.
“We are facing a situation of reality versus social media. Do not blindly believe what influencers do,” he remarked.
