Miroto Dance at Erasmus Huis

JAKARTA (JP): The Dutch cultural center, the Erasmus Huis, will host on Friday evening two performances.

The program will begin with the Javanese Miroto Dance Company's composition called "Merge", which will combine music, poetry, dance, shadow and light.

Composers Paul Goodman and Jos Janssen created the text and music, which found its inspiration in Javanese gamelan music, and modern electronic and computer sources.

The composition is enhanced by a dance choreography from the Indonesian dancer and choreographer Martinus Miroto, while the German light artist Constantin Jaxy has created a kinetic shadow show to make the program more exciting.

At the end of the program, Dutch Ambassador van Heemstra will officially inaugurate a sculpture called "The Great Tingling Machine", built at the Erasmus Huis compound, in commemoration of Jakarta's anniversary.
