Miranda quizzed over liquidity funds
JAKARTA: The Attorney General's Office questioned on Friday Bank Indonesia deputy governor Miranda Goeltom in connection with the misuse of central bank liquidity support funds from 1997 through 1999.
Deputy Attorney General Hariyadi Widiyasa said that Miranda, one of three candidates for BI governor, was questioned as a witness in the case against former BI governor Sudrajat Djiwandono.
Earlier, the office questioned Cyrillus Harinowo, also a BI governor candidate, as part of the same case. Another candidate for central bank governor is former coordinating minister for the economy Burhanuddin Abdullah.
Haryadi said his office would question Sudrajat next month about the disbursement of liquidity support funds to several troubled private banks from 1997 through 1999, which resulted in state losses of Rp 19 billion. --JP
