Mirae Enters Wealth Management Segment, Prepares Rp100 Billion Investment
PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia is in the process of developing a Wealth Management segment to help provide clearer direction for investors amid market volatility.
Director of Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia Tomi Taufan explained that this transformation effort is being undertaken to answer the increasingly diverse needs of clients. According to him, asset management is no longer sufficient if it merely offers investment products; it must also understand the needs and investment types of clients.
Moreover, the growth of the middle class and mass affluent segment is seen as opening up a larger market opportunity, in line with the increasing need of the public to manage finances, invest, and develop assets in a more directed manner.
“Naturally, we are a business that likes it when there are transactions. But now we should be more honest in reminding clients. If it is time to enter, then enter; if it is not time to enter, then do not force it,” he said during Mirae Asset Media Day in Jakarta, Tuesday (18/8/2026).
According to him, through this approach, Mirae Asset can adjust solutions based on client needs, ranging from liquidity conditions, income, asset growth, protection, diversification, to financial planning and global investment.
This approach is claimed to enable clients to obtain a more comprehensive strategy, in line with their financial needs and goals. In addition, through the development of Wealth Management, Mirae Asset also hopes to build long-term relationships with clients, in order to provide services and solutions that suit client needs.
“Wealth Management is no longer just about what products are available, but starts from understanding client needs, then presenting suitable solutions. Therefore, we encourage a change from a product-centric to a client-centric approach,” he stressed.
Going forward, the development of Mirae Asset Sekuritas’ Wealth Management is said to target various groups. He explained that the retail mass segment will be served through a digital system, while the mass affluent segment will be directed to the relevant Relationship Manager (RM).
“Currently Mirae Asset is also very focused on technology development. So we will invest quite significantly here, which in projection over the next 3 years we may invest around Rp100 billion to improve our technology,” he said.
However, Tomi has not yet explained in more detail the technology development plan. He only mentioned the development of AI and RM to provide investment recommendations based on client needs.
“So it will be very different for Mirae Asset in the coming years. We are indeed transforming from a traditional broker business to a wealth management business in order to provide the best service to the public and a better contribution to the industry,” he stressed.
