Mirae Asset Strengthens Business Transformation: Prepares Wealth Management and Investment
PT Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia is strengthening its business transformation from a traditional brokerage firm into an integrated wealth management provider. The strategy is part of the company’s efforts to capture growth opportunities among Indonesia’s middle class and high-net-worth segment.
The transformation was emphasised at a Media Day event titled ‘Turning Market Momentum Into Long-Term Wealth’ held at Discovery SCBD, Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/08/2026).
Director of Mirae Asset Sekuritas Indonesia, Tomi Taufan, said Indonesia still has positive growth prospects. According to him, the development of the consuming class and the high-net-worth segment is opening up significant opportunities for the wealth management business.
To support the transformation, Mirae Asset is strengthening five main pillars: service, product, access, global network, and technology.
The company is also preparing technology investments of up to Rp100 billion over the next three years. The investment will be directed towards developing super apps and integrating artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems to improve service quality and client portfolio management.
Head of Business Development at Mirae Asset Sekuritas, Simon Gunawan, explained that the Gold ETF is a mutual fund product in the form of a Collective Investment Contract (KIK) whose participation units are traded on the exchange. The underlying asset of the product is physical gold in the form of Electronic Gold Receipt (EGR).
According to Simon, the Gold ETF offers several advantages for investors. Besides serving as a diversification instrument and a hedge against inflation and market risk, investors do not need to store gold physically because the asset is held by a custodian manager.
‘The Gold ETF mechanism is the same as shares on the exchange. For now, transactions are still one-way (long) and are intended for long-term wealth building,’ said Simon.
As a Participating Dealer, Mirae Asset Sekuritas plays a role in maintaining Gold ETF liquidity and facilitating the creation and redemption of units in the market.
To encourage the use of Gold ETFs, Mirae Asset will develop regular market education strategies while expanding distribution through digital channels. The product targets various investor segments, from retail and affluent to institutional.
Rully said that balancing growth and stability is important amid global economic dynamics.
Responding to a question about the government’s rupiah exchange rate target of Rp17,500 per US dollar, Rully assessed that the rupiah’s movement is still heavily influenced by external factors.
Meanwhile, Research Analyst at Mirae Asset Sekuritas, M. Nurcholish Syafruddin, highlighted developments in the national banking sector. He said that relatively rapid credit growth needs to be viewed together with liquidity conditions and banking intermediation ratios to ensure economic fundamentals remain intact.
Through its transformation towards wealth management, technology strengthening, and the development of investment instruments such as Gold ETFs, Mirae Asset Sekuritas aims to expand its role in helping the public manage and grow their wealth sustainably.
