Makassar — Mira Hayati, convicted in a dangerous cosmetics possession case, has requested additional time from prosecutors to pay a Rp1 billion fine according to a court verdict before her assets are seized by the Prosecutor’s Office in Makassar, South Sulawesi.

“The prosecutor has conveyed directly to Mira Hayati regarding payment of the fine. And she has requested time to consult with her family,” said Soetarmi, Head of the Information and Law Section of the South Sulawesi High Prosecutor’s Office, when confirmed by journalists in Makassar on Tuesday.

He explained that in accordance with regulations, the Prosecutor’s Office will seize the assets of the beauty product owner, who has been proven to contain hazardous substances, if she does not promptly pay the fine of Rp1 billion according to the Supreme Court’s decision, which is final and binding.

Previously, South Sulawesi High Prosecutor Didik Farkhan Alisyahdi had announced that the deadline for paying the fine was 17 March 2026. If the convicted person has not paid the fine by that deadline, her assets will be seized to cover the Rp1 billion.

“We are still waiting until now, but it has not been paid. However, if by 17 March it has not been paid, then we will seize the assets,” Didik emphasised.

Once the assets are seized because the convicted person is unable to pay, they will subsequently be sold at public auction to cover the fine. So far, the Prosecutor’s Office team has inventoried her assets that could potentially be seized.

“The auction proceeds will go towards covering her fine. For example, if her house is auctioned and sells for Rp2 billion, then Rp1 billion would pay the fine, and Rp1 billion would be returned to the person concerned,” he explained.

Didik emphasised that the legal enforcement process against Mira Hayati will continue to be carried out professionally without special treatment. Anyone found guilty must be punished according to their actions.

Mira Hayati was sentenced to two years by the Supreme Court’s bench of judges after appealing in the case of the circulation and possession of dangerous cosmetics, proven to contain hazardous chemical substances including mercury.

In addition to the prison sentence, Mira Hayati was ordered to pay a fine of Rp1 billion, with an alternative of two months’ imprisonment. The verdict is final and binding.

She was detained on 18 February 2026 at Class 1A Gunung Sari Prison in Makassar after prosecutors executed the arrest at her residence following a request for city detention during the trial process.
