Minyakita Scarce, Bulog to Launch Market Operations Immediately
Perum Bulog’s Director General, Ahmad Rizal Ramdhani, has urged regional branches to promptly launch market operations to tackle the shortage of Minyakita and ensure its price stability in line with the government’s maximum retail price of Rp 15,700 per litre.
“We have emphasised to all our colleagues in the regions to carry out market operations related to rice. This includes market operations for Minyakita as well,” Rizal said when met after the Meeting to Accelerate Funding Realisation for Paddy Absorption Equivalent to Rice at Bulog’s Jakarta office on Monday, 13 April 2026, as quoted by Antara.
This measure comes after public complaints about Minyakita being sold above the maximum retail price in various regions.
According to him, Bulog has held a national evaluation meeting online with all regional offices to discuss food price conditions, including rice and cooking oil.
In that meeting, one of the main focuses was to ensure the stability of basic commodity prices and to identify the causes of price increases at the market level.
Bulog then emphasised to all regional branches to immediately implement market operations for both rice commodities—since the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) recorded it contributing 0.03 percent to inflation—and Minyakita due to its scarcity and prices exceeding the maximum retail price.
He stressed the importance of this step as a quick response to suppress price surges and ensure the availability of Minyakita remains maintained for the wider public.
Rizal will personally lead the special Minyakita market operation, scheduled to begin soon with priority in the DKI Jakarta region. “The target is this week we will carry out market operations related to Minyakita, especially in DKI first. We will implement it as soon as possible in one or two days,” he said.
He believes that accelerating this step is crucial to dampen public panic while ensuring the distribution of Minyakita returns to normal in the market.
He affirmed that Bulog is committed to providing the best service to the public through food price stabilisation in accordance with President Prabowo Subianto’s directives.
Bulog has previously been active in maintaining price stability ahead of major religious holidays such as Christmas and New Year 2025/2026, as well as Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijriah/2026 CE, with fairly controlled results.
“Bulog will always provide the best service for the people and do our utmost to maintain price stabilisation. That is in line with Mr President’s directives,” Rizal said.
Previously, Rizal stated that his side had requested an additional quota of Minyakita from the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag) to address the scarcity of the commodity occurring in several markets.
