MinyaKita Prices Set to Rise Following CPO, Government Still Calculating the Amount
Trade Minister Budi Santoso has proposed raising the Maximum Retail Price (HET) for MinyaKita, following the increase in crude palm oil (CPO) prices.
The proposal was revealed by Coordinating Minister for Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan (Zulhas) after holding a Limited Coordination Meeting (Rakortas) at his office.
Minister of Trade Regulation (Permendag) Number 43 of 2025 sets the HET for MinyaKita at Rp15,700 per litre.
“This MinyaKita has not had any adjustment for a long time. Earlier, the Trade Minister proposed an adjustment,” said Zulhas at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs office in Jakarta on Wednesday (22/4/2026).
The price adjustment for the government brand must also involve the Financial and Development Oversight Agency (BPKP) and several related agencies.
“We will calculate it together, then we will hold a special meeting,” Zulhas stated.
According to him, the HET for MinyaKita needs to be adjusted to the prevailing dynamics.
“It’s been more than three years at Rp15,700 (HET for MinyaKita). Everything needs to be adjusted,” said Budi Santoso.
The PAN politician admitted he would first discuss the MinyaKita price increase before bringing it to the limited meeting at the Coordinating Ministry for Food Affairs.
To date, the Ministry of Trade has not yet studied how much percentage the HET for MinyaKita needs to rise.
“Well, later, from the results of the meeting earlier, we will study and recalculate it. We will calculate it together,” said Budi Santoso.
The Indonesia Palm Oil Strategic Studies (IPOSS) projects that in the second quarter of 2026, global CPO prices will rise from $1,165 to $1,440 per ton in April.
Palm oil prices continue to increase in May to $1,701 per ton and $1,783 per ton in June 2026.
The war has caused crude oil prices to soar, prompting many countries to switch to using CPO as a raw material for biodiesel.
“Global price pressures have the potential to have a real impact on the domestic market,” IPOSS wrote.
