What would you say if you had to spend some 14 million rupiah
for only minor surgery on your little finger? That was true of a
case reported in Warta Kota recently. Wouldn't you consider it an
act of extortion by the hospital or doctor?.

I am of the opinion that it is a sort of deception by the
hospital. Would the hospital be willing to give a break down the
expenses and costs incurred to the family members of the patient?

The patient did not come from a well-to-do family. As a lay
man, I would say that the operation would cost at the most Rp 3
million. I do hope that anyone who receives such treatment will
not hesitate to reveal their case to the public and to mention
the names of the hospital and doctors involved. Let the public be
the judge and be aware of such acts of deception.

The Indonesian Medical Association (IDI) must not close their
eyes to this fact. Other hospitals in Jakarta must not become
part of a network to squeeze people.
