Minivan plunges into river

JAKARTA (JP): A public minivan, plying the Kampung Melayu-
Gandaria route, plunged into a river allegedly due to reckless
driving on Jl. Raya Bogor, Pasar Rebo, East Jakarta early Friday
morning.

The incident took place at 2 a.m. as the vehicle, driven by
Otoy, 32, was about to make a U-turn in front of the Khong Guan
biscuit factory.

Witnesses were unable to explain the cause of the accident.
They said the driver suddenly lost control and the minivan
crashed into the river swollen by heavy rainfall, Antara
reported.

Onlookers who rushed to the site found Otoy unconscious. He
was rushed to a nearby hospital.

Police required a crane to hoist the minivan from the river.
