The Ministry of Environment / Environmental Control Agency (KLH/BPLH) has officially opened the Indonesia International Environment Technology and Innovation Expo and Conference (INVIROTECH) 2026. INVIROTECH is part of the series of events commemorating World Environment Day 2026. Held at the Jakarta International Convention Center (JICC) from 11 to 13 June 2026, this activity serves as a collaborative platform for government, businesses, academics, researchers, innovators, environmental communities, and the younger generation to accelerate concrete action in addressing the environmental and climate crises. The national theme for World Environment Day 2026 has evolved from the spirit of ‘Time to Work for the Climate’ to ‘Time to Work for Climate Justice’. This affirmation positions climate action as an effort that delivers benefits to all communities and generations, based on the principle of ‘no generation left behind’, ensuring no group or generation is left behind in obtaining the right to a good and healthy environment. Minister of Environment / Head of BPLH, Moh Jumhur Hidayat, affirmed that INVIROTECH 2026 demonstrates the ministry’s consistency in carrying out this agenda. Amidst various environmental challenges, from water, air, and soil pollution, rising global temperatures, to ecosystem damage, more concrete, collaborative, and measurable steps are needed. ‘Protecting the environment and overcoming the climate crisis is no longer a future agenda, but work that must be done today. INVIROTECH exists to bring together innovation, technology, investment, and real action to answer various environmental issues,’ said Jumhur in a written statement on Thursday. Jumhur stressed that the policy direction of KLH/BPLH is aligned with the Indonesia Aman, Sehat, Resik, dan Indah (ASRI) Movement, which stands for Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful Indonesia. This movement encourages the development of a culture and civilisation that respects nature and strengthens sustainable development for public welfare. He emphasised that nature or the environment is no longer viewed as a burden and an object, but prioritised as a consideration and a subject whose sustainability must be protected. Carrying the theme ‘Green Solution Technology for Climate Action’, INVIROTECH 2026 features 99 participants from ministries and agencies, local governments, state-owned enterprises, national and foreign private companies, international organisations, communities, startups, and universities. They will showcase various innovations in waste management, water and air pollution control, waste-to-energy, renewable energy, water and soil conservation, environmental quality monitoring, environmental digitalisation, and technologies supporting low-carbon development. Through this event, Jumhur invited all elements of the nation to build environmental ethics through the spirit of ecological repentance, including raising awareness to restore damaged and polluted environments and changing perspectives and behaviours towards nature. This value is reflected in the presentation of the Kalpataru Award to 16 environmental champions from various regions in Indonesia, as well as a Lifetime Achievement award to Prof. Emil Salim, a figure who laid the foundation for environmental thinking and policy in Indonesia. The awards serve as an important symbol that the environmental struggle must be continuously passed down, strengthened, and continued across generations. Meanwhile, the Deputy for Pollution Control and Environmental Damage at KLH/BPLH, Rasio Ridho Sani, who is also the Chair of INVIROTECH 2026, said this year’s theme was chosen to underscore the importance of implementing green technology and innovation to support climate action and sustainable development. ‘INVIROTECH 2026 is not only an event to showcase environmental technology and innovation, but also a means to accelerate the replication of good practices, expand cooperation networks, and encourage green investment that supports pollution control, environmental damage control, and sustainable development,’ said Rasio. In addition to the environmental technology exhibition, INVIROTECH 2026 also presents discussion forums, seminars, workshops, coaching clinics, seller-meet-buyer sessions, business matching, competitions, and various public education activities. Through this event, KLH/BPLH encourages the wider adoption of green technology while strengthening multi-party collaboration in supporting the agenda of pollution control and environmental damage control. The presence of INVIROTECH 2026 is also expected to generate various innovations, partnerships, green investments, and real actions to accelerate the realisation of a Safe, Healthy, Clean, and Beautiful (ASRI) Indonesia, while strengthening efforts to achieve climate justice for all communities and generations.
