JAKARTA (JP): The Ministry of Manpower has ordered its regional office in Tangerang, 26 km west of here, to handle the dispute between the management of a textile company and its workers.
The conflict emerged after PT Jabatex, the textile company, decided to inactivate its workers while paying them 40 percent of their salary.
The workers rejected the plan and demanded a fair severance allowance.

The laborers worked for PT Eka Agung Cemerlang until the company moved to Bekasi, an industrial town 30 km southwest of here, last month. This company wanted to take the workers to Bekasi but most of them turned down the proposal. PT Eka Agung Cemerlang later transferred them to PT Jabatex. (03)
