Ministry Strengthens AI-Based Entrepreneurship Education Transformation

The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is continuing to strengthen the transformation of higher education through the development of an entrepreneurship ecosystem that is adaptive to technological developments, the needs of the business world, and the challenges of national development. Acting Secretary General of Kemdiktisaintek, Badri Munir Sukoco, in a statement in Jakarta on Friday, affirmed that entrepreneurship study programmes are an important instrument in realising the ministry’s vision of being inclusive, adaptive, and impactful towards a Golden Indonesia 2045. “We need to understand together that the urgency of science and technology-based entrepreneurs is increasingly important. Entrepreneurship study programmes are very relevant to answer future challenges through the downstreaming of innovation and the creation of new jobs,” he said. He assessed that universities need to transform into entrepreneurial universities that not only produce job-ready graduates but are also capable of producing job creators based on science and technology. “Strengthening collaboration between universities, local governments, industry, financing institutions, and associations is encouraged to build a more integrated entrepreneurship ecosystem,” said Secretary General Badri. Meanwhile, the Deputy for Entrepreneurship at the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, M. Riza Damanik, stated that entrepreneurship development is one of the keys to accelerating national economic growth while reducing unemployment. “We must encourage more young people to grow into strong entrepreneurs. It is impossible for Indonesia to become a developed country without an adequate entrepreneurship ratio to drive economic growth and create jobs,” said Riza. Riza added that the government has issued Presidential Regulation Number 38 of 2026 on Entrepreneurship Development, which is expected to serve as a foundation for strengthening cross-ministerial, university, private sector, and local government collaboration in national entrepreneurship development. Chairman of the Indonesian Entrepreneurship Study Programme Alliance (APSKI), Sonny Rustiadi, emphasised that entrepreneurship education needs to be designed so that students can identify local issues, create added value for their regions, and become an integral part of the transformation of universities into genuine entrepreneurial universities. “Entrepreneurship education does not only prepare students to be ready for work but also equips them to create jobs and provide solutions to economic problems in their respective regions,” said Sonny.
