The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) has said that the consumer shift from non-subsidised fuel oil (BBM) such as Pertamax to subsidised fuel (Pertalite) is not yet massive. “Alhamdulillah, the shift is not too big,” said ESDM Ministry Spokesperson Dwi Anggia when met at the ESDM Ministry Office in Jakarta on Thursday. Anggia conveyed that to date, the visible consumer shift has been from Pertamax Turbo to Pertamax. Although the shift from Pertamax to Pertalite has not been massive, Anggia said the Ministry has anticipated it by using QR codes for Pertalite purchases and instructing Pertamina to increase oversight of Pertalite sales. “Although there may also be many individuals who circumvent this (QR code). The most important thing is growing public awareness. Which is their right and which is not their right,” Anggia said. Anggia emphasised that the government has guaranteed that subsidised fuels like Pertalite and Biodiesel will not experience a price increase until the end of the year. This policy is a form of ‘pro wong cilik’ (pro-common people) policy aimed at protecting vulnerable groups from energy price volatility amid geopolitical dynamics in the Middle East. “The directive from President Prabowo to Mr Bahlil (Minister of ESDM) is clear: the most vulnerable groups, the poor who are most affected and use a lot of subsidised fuel, these must be protected,” Anggia said. Pertamina Patra Niaga announced a price increase for Pertamax and Pertamax Green fuel products starting 10 June 2026. According to a company press release received in Jakarta on Tuesday (9/6), from 10 June 2026, the price of non-subsidised Pertamax (RON 92) fuel rose from Rp12,300 to Rp16,250 per litre, and Pertamax Green 95 (RON 95) rose from Rp12,900 to Rp17,000 per litre. The company assured the security of BBM supply in Pertamina’s public filling station (SPBU) network throughout Indonesia. The company said that fuel product prices other than Pertamax and Pertamax Green did not increase. The price of non-subsidised Pertamax Turbo (RON 98) remained at Rp20,750 per litre, Dexlite (CN 51) remained at Rp23,000 per litre, and Pertamina Dex (CN 53) remained at Rp24,800 per litre. Subsidised Pertalite fuel continued to be marketed at a price of Rp10,000 per litre, and Biosolar remained at Rp6,800 per litre.
