The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education (Kemendikdasmen) is providing thousands of digital books, ranging from illustrated stories to school textbooks, which can be accessed free of charge by anyone at any time through the Indonesian Book Information System (SIBI) platform. Supriyatno, Head of the Ministry’s Book Centre, stated in Jakarta on Tuesday that the platform offers various types of books, including picture storybooks for children and textbooks for all school levels and subjects. “From the outset, we have strived to provide the best efforts to facilitate the needs of students throughout Indonesia. The designers and authors are Indonesian creators and writers, so the content aligns with the country’s educational needs,” Supriyatno said. He noted that the digital collection is available on the ministry’s official platform, which has recorded over 8.8 million visits and more than 2.6 million downloads to date. Education observer Doni Koesoema, founder of Pendidikan Karakter Education Consulting, welcomed the initiative, stating that digital technology significantly aids the distribution of books and broadens public access to reading materials.
