Ministry Prepares Technical Regulations for Carbon in Energy Sector

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) is currently formulating a draft ministerial regulation (Permen) regarding the management of carbon economic value in the energy sector. This follows the issuance of Presidential Regulation (Perpres) Number 110 of 2025.

The regulation will consolidate the potential for carbon credits from the electricity sub-sector, new and renewable energy (EBT), oil and gas, as well as minerals and coal, into one integrated system.

The Director General of New, Renewable Energy, and Energy Conservation (EBTKE) at the Ministry of ESDM, Eniya Listiani Dewi, stated that the carbon regulation will serve as a vital instrument to increase the economic value of clean energy investments. She noted that the policy is highly anticipated by developers as it can provide additional financial benefits beyond pure electricity sales.
