Ministry Prepares 'Siap Impact' Programme to Tackle Rising Youth Unemployment
The Ministry of Population and Family Development (Kemendukbangga)/BKKBN is preparing a programme called Siap Impact to address the increasing rate of youth unemployment. Minister Wihaji stated in Jakarta on Monday that the programme is currently in the trial phase and will involve final-year university students. “There is a programme called Siap Impact. It is still in process, currently being tested. Later, there will be activities involving final-year university students, where we will provide material, understanding, and knowledge that will strengthen, deepen, and comprehensively empower these students,” he said. The minister explained that the programme will absorb labour by strengthening human resource readiness, enabling them to better adapt to industrial developments in the era of artificial intelligence. He also addressed the phenomenon of young Indonesians postponing marriage due to fear and anxiety, including economic factors. Siap Impact is a Future-Ready Hub programme under SAKINA, a digital talent acceleration and self-development centre designed to address demographic issues for Indonesia’s young generation. The programme is designed as a strategic collaborative initiative between the Ministry, university networks across Indonesia, industry, and top human resource practitioners to respond to the challenges of the demographic bonus.
