The Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) is opening opportunities for collaboration in the fields of semiconductors, aerospace engineering, and biofuel with the Brazilian government through the State University of Campinas (Unicamp).

Minister Brian Yuliarto stated that the growing cooperation between Indonesia and Brazil is very positive. He expressed hope that collaboration between Unicamp and Indonesian universities will continue and yield more productive results, delivering tangible benefits for both countries. The minister noted that professors from Indonesia and Brazil could work together, including sending lecturers to conduct joint research in Brazil.

Deputy Chief of Mission of Brazil to Indonesia, Rodrigo Alexandre de Oliveira Carvalho, conveyed follow-up actions regarding Indonesia’s request for support in developing talent in strategic fields. He said the programme is part of a joint effort to prepare Indonesian talent capable of supporting the development of high-tech industries in the future.

Unicamp representative Marco Roberto Cavallari explained that the initial scheme being prepared includes sending Indonesian master’s and doctoral students to Brazil in the fields of microfabrication, integrated circuit design, and material science. The programme also opens opportunities for developing a double degree scheme between Unicamp and the Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB).

The Brazilian government is exploring partnerships with several strategic institutions and industries, including aerospace company Embraer, to support Indonesia’s talent development needs in these areas. As a follow-up, both parties discussed the potential acceleration of a bilateral education agreement currently under negotiation between Indonesia and Brazil.
