Ministry of Youth and Sports targets sports event calendar from 2027
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) is targeting the establishment of an annual sports event calendar starting in 2027 as a scheduling guide that can align all sporting events in Indonesia.
“Our major goal in 2027, according to the direction of the Minister (Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir), is that we will create a calendar of events in Indonesia,” said Teuku Arlan Perkasa Lukman, Deputy for Sports Industry Development at Kemenpora, during a press conference for the Jakarta Hybrid Race in Jakarta on Thursday.
The sports event calendar will contain a neatly arranged list of sporting activities or competitions, complete with venue and time of implementation for a full year.
As such, the calendar will facilitate planning for athletes, spectators and the government in arranging schedules and promotion, while also stimulating the economy.
Therefore, the creation of a national sports event calendar is part of the main target to ensure all events take place in an orderly manner.
Furthermore, Arlan explained that Kemenpora continues to establish cooperation for the organisation of various events, including with private parties whose ecosystems are already sufficiently prepared.
He cited the cooperation between Kemenpora and 20FIT to hold the Jakarta Hybrid Race fitness competition on 13–16 September as part of the 2026 Indonesia Sport Summit (ISS) series.
Arlan hopes the fitness event can be held in a series so that its ecosystem can grow in various regions across Indonesia.
“So, we are preparing the arrangements because event management cannot stand alone,” he said.
