Ministry of Youth and Sports Begins Handling Tasks Delegated from Ministry of Tourism
Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) has begun handling several tasks related to the management of sports facilities up to services for organising special events, which were delegated by the Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) to prevent overlapping programmes or activities between ministries.
“Alhamdulillah, the Ministry of Tourism has also handed over several activities that have previously experienced overlapping, and now they are fully handled by us,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports, Erick Thohir, while with the Minister of Law and Human Rights, Supratman Andi Agtas, giving statements to the media in Jakarta on Friday.
Erick mentioned that several tasks delegated from the Ministry of Tourism include the management of stadium facilities, circuits, arenas, fields, martial arts sports, and other sports facilities.
Additionally, there are tasks related to sports event promoters, hunting areas or hunting activities, traditional sports, as well as services for organising special events.
The Minister of Youth and Sports stated that the delegation of these tasks is in line with the current government’s efforts prioritising inter-ministerial synergy in implementing programmes or activities to avoid overlaps.
To handle all these tasks, Kemenpora has provided a legal framework in the form of four new Ministerial Regulations (Permenpora) as a result of deregulating 191 Permenpora. One of these Permenpora also regulates the sports industry, including sports-based tourism activities (sport tourism).
The Minister of Youth and Sports said that the delegation of tasks is one of the steps taken by his ministry to strengthen inter-ministerial programme synergy.
In the future, synergy with other ministries will continue to be carried out to address overlapping programmes, such as with the Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education as well as the Ministry of Higher Education.
He added that his side will consult again with the Ministry of Law and Human Rights to realise such synergy, as done during the deregulation of Permenpora.
