Jakarta – The Ministry of Villages and Disadvantaged Region Development (Kemendes PDT) has called on all village administrations to manage village funds wisely, transparently, and with a focus on improving community welfare.

According to Dicky Yosepial, Head of the Human Resources Training Centre for Villages and Disadvantaged Regions at Kemendes PDT, transparent management of funds is critically important because village funds distributed by the government represent a state mandate that must be optimally utilised to drive development and enhance citizens’ welfare.

He stated that villages currently hold a strategic role as spaces where various economic potentials can flourish and community aspirations can be realised. “Villages today are no longer merely geographic spaces where we live; they have become spaces for hope to grow, spaces for the development of the people’s economy, and the foundation of the nation’s future,” he said.

Consequently, Dicky emphasised the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders at village level so that every policy and the use of village funds can provide tangible benefits to communities. He reminded that village development does not always need to start from large-scale programmes but can begin from simple steps, such as willingness to learn and work together.

“We often view development as something grand and complex, yet in reality, major changes in villages almost always begin from simple things, such as the willingness to learn, the courage to collaborate, and the sincerity to work for the community,” he said.

Going forward, Dicky hopes that all stakeholders in villages will maintain their commitment to using village funds accountably, thereby strengthening rural economies and improving community welfare.
