Ministry of Villages and Transmigration Socialises Support Programme for Villages in NTT
Kupang (ANTARA) - Minister of Villages and Transmigration, Yandri Susanto, stated that the Ministry of Villages and Transmigration is currently socialising a support programme for the development of village potential in Kupang Regency, East Nusa Tenggara Province.
“This year, we are starting the socialisation, and in early 2027, we will begin developing the potential of villages in NTT,” he said to reporters in Kupang on Friday.
He said that upon arriving in Kupang on Friday morning, he and his team immediately visited West Kupang District to inspect tourism villages and several alternative villages.
The working visit to the area is part of the Ministry of Villages and Transmigration’s plan to transform villages in Kupang Regency into centres for egg production, meat production, and tourism.
“There is a lot of potential there; we can develop it, and we will provide assistance,” he said.
In addition, he also assessed that there is potential for developing export villages in Kupang Regency because the West Kupang area has high-quality seaweed.
Furthermore, there is also the potential for fruit-producing villages, which, according to him, could benefit the Free Nutritious Meal (MBG) programme.
“But later, we can upgrade it so that it can be used for export production,” he said.
According to him, the Ministry of Villages and Transmigration has many programmes. He has also discussed this with the Governor of NTT, Melki Laka Lena, and the regent.
He also hopes that each village can start submitting proposals for the development of village potential in their respective villages so that they can be reviewed, and if they meet the criteria, they will be assisted by the central government.
“Later, we will review the proposals from each village, and God willing, we will provide assistance,” he said.
