Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has urged transport operators to ensure that all vehicles or fleets used are roadworthy and in prime condition to face the Lebaran 1447 Hijriah return flow. “This is important to improve the safety and security of public travel during the return flow of the 2026 Lebaran holiday,” said the Director General of Land Transportation of Kemenhub, Aan Suhanan, in a statement in Jakarta on Tuesday. He conveyed that every operator, whether bus companies (PO Bus) or ferry service operators, can check their fleets first before they are put into operation. “In addition to the readiness of prime fleets, every operator is also obliged to ensure that vehicle crew such as drivers and staff on duty are in good health and must not be ill,” said Aan. “As we know, most traffic accidents are caused by driver negligence, including fatigue or violating rules,” said Aan. Furthermore, he stated that according to predictions from the Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), there is potential for heavy rain, very heavy rain to strong winds in several regions, namely parts of Sumatra, parts of Java, Jabodetabek, parts of Kalimantan, Sulawesi, Bali, Nusa Tenggara, and Papua. “According to BMKG, in the coming days, there could be potential impacts of hydro-meteorological disasters in the form of puddles, landslides, floods, and high sea waves,” he said. “We hope that all parties can participate in monitoring weather conditions and increase vigilance when driving during the peak moment of the 2026 Lebaran return flow,” said Aan.
