Jasa Marga predicts that on 24 March 2026, around 285,000 holiday vehicles will return to Jabodetabek via toll roads. We urge the public to make use of the WFA time provided so they can return on 25, 26, or 27 March,” said Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, in Jakarta on Monday.

He explained that the WFA policy applies to those working in the government sector and SOEs, and it is also encouraged to be implemented in the private sector.

“We hope that private entrepreneurs will give flexibility to their employees to utilise WFA in arranging their return times,” he stated.

According to him, this needs to be a collective concern given the high surge in vehicles during yesterday’s peak return flow. The aim is to provide comfort for road users and avoid massive vehicle build-ups on the roads.

He mentioned that based on Jasa Marga data, as of 22 March 2026 at 14:00 WIB, 39.9% of vehicles had entered Jakarta from the total projection of 3.4 million vehicles. This figure is calculated from four main toll gates: GT Cikupa, GT Ciawi, GT Cikatama, and GT Kalihurip Utama.

“We also remind the public to make the best use of rest areas. Maximise the 30-minute time so that it can alternate with others or maximise rest spots that are also outside the toll roads,” Aan advised.

He also emphasised that holiday returnees should not rest on the road shoulder as it would be very dangerous, potentially causing traffic accidents and adding to congestion.

“We hope that all stakeholders and the public can work together to create a safe, secure, and comfortable return flow,” Aan said.
