Ministry of Transportation to Summon Green SM Taxi Operator Over Train Collision in East Bekasi
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has stated that it will summon the operators of Green SM taxis following the incident involving a collision between the Argo Bromo Anggrek train and a commuter rail electric train (KRL) at Bekasi Timur Station in Bekasi City.
“I have already asked the Director General of Land Transportation to meet with the operators of those green taxis (Green SM) to conduct an evaluation. Hopefully, if it happens today, it should,” said Minister of Transportation Dudy Purwagandhi at Bekasi Timur Station on Tuesday (28/4/2026).
Regarding the cause of the accident, Dudy requested that all parties await the results of the investigation from the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT).
According to Dudy, every time a public transportation accident occurs, his ministry always conducts an evaluation.
“Yes, so the hope is that we learn from what happened and improve going forward,” he stated.
Previously reported, the collision occurred between the Cikarang-bound KRL number PLB 5568A and the Argo Bromo Anggrek train on the Gambir–Surabaya Pasar Turi route around 20:52 WIB on Monday evening.
The incident took place on the platform at Bekasi Timur Station KM 28+920. As a result of the incident, 14 KRL passengers were killed as of 08:45 WIB, based on the latest data provided by KAI President Director Bobby Rasyidin on Monday (28/4/2026).
The deceased victims have been taken to the Kramat Jati Police Hospital for further identification processes. Meanwhile, 84 injured victims have received medical treatment at various health facilities.
KAI also stated that passengers’ belongings found at the scene have been secured and are currently at the lost and found service.
The inventory and management of these items are being coordinated with the police to support identification processes and further handling needs.
