The Directorate General of Land Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Dirjen Hubdat Kemenhub) is investigating the train accident (KA) involving the Argo Bromo Anggrek and KRL at Bekasi Timur Station. The Ministry of Transportation is summoning the management of Xanh SM or Green SM today for clarification following the accident.

“We have formed a special team to delve into the involvement of the Xanh SM taxi, including its licensing, administrative completeness, fulfilment of safety standards, and compliance with public transport operational provisions. Our principle is clear: public safety is the top priority, so any potential violations will be addressed in accordance with regulations,” said Dirjen Hubdat Kemenhub Aan in his statement on Tuesday (28/4/2026).

Based on data from the Siprajab application, the taxi vehicle involved in the accident is registered and has a valid supervision card until 28 October 2026. The taxi vehicle is registered to provide regular taxi services in the Jabodetabek area.

Nevertheless, Aan assured that his side would continue to investigate to ensure the operator’s compliance with all applicable provisions. According to him, the Green SM taxi company already holds a Company Public Transport Safety Management System (SMK PAU) certificate valid for five years.

“Next, we will re-audit the elements of the safety management standards that public transport companies are required to meet. So we will review how the safety management standards are implemented in the field by this company, including the company’s obligations to ensure that vehicles, drivers, and operational systems meet safety aspects,” he said.

In addition, the Ministry of Transportation will conduct clarifications, in-depth investigations, and take action if violations are proven against the provisions of Minister of Transportation Regulation Number PM 85 of 2018 on the Public Transport Company Safety Management System and PM 117 of 2018 on Non-Route Public Passenger Transport Services.

According to Aan, administrative sanctions are not impossible to impose according to the level of violation, ranging from warning letters, temporary licence suspension to licence revocation.

“We will see if there are violations of public transport operational provisions, then administrative sanctions will be given proportionally in accordance with the existing rules,” said Aan.

“We will firmly conduct further examinations and the involvement of the Green SM taxi in this accident. The results of the investigation will later serve as the basis for determining the next steps,” he added.

As is known, the Argo Bromo Anggrek train collided with the stationary KRL at Bekasi Timur Station on Monday (27/4) night. The incident began with a taxi blocking the KRL at a crossing not far from Bekasi Timur Station.

The taxi blocking the KRL caused the KRL at Bekasi Station to wait. The Argo Bromo Anggrek train then arrived and collided from behind.

To date, the total death toll from the accident is 15 people. In addition, dozens of people were injured.

“Yes, 15 died,” said the Head of Medical Services of Metro Jaya Police Kombes Martinus Ginting at Bhayangkara Hospital Tk.I Pusdokkes Polri (RS Polri), Jakarta, on Tuesday (28/4).
