JAKARTA - The free motorcycle transport (Motis) programme using trains during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period is claimed by the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) to have successfully exceeded the set target. Director of Railway Traffic and Transport Arif Anwar stated that the Motis programme was organised to reduce the number of two-wheeled holiday travellers on highways, thereby expected to lower accident rates. “From a total of 11,900 motorcycle units provided, the realisation of transport reached 12,419 units, or 104.36 percent of the target,” said Arif on Thursday (2/4/2026). Furthermore, Arif explained that this realisation does not include additional transport (contraflow) which reached 1,304 motorcycle units, and was still served even though it was not part of the initial target. “In the future, we hope that the Motis programme quota can continue to be increased so that its benefits are more widely felt by the public,” he said. The Motis programme during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr period served three main routes, namely the Northern Line (Jakarta Gudang–Cepu), Central Line (Jakarta Gudang–Lempuyangan), and Southern Line (Jakarta Gudang–Madiun). With a regular motorcycle transport departure schedule, the public is claimed to have received time certainty and premium service. Nevertheless, Arif said that his side would still conduct a comprehensive evaluation as part of efforts to improve service quality. “Input from the public is our primary concern to ensure that future Motis implementation is increasingly optimal and responsive to user needs,” said Arif.
