Ministry of Transportation Sanctions 124 Truck Owners for Overloading
The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has taken action against 124 truck owners who violated goods transport operational restrictions during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr homecoming period. Violations were dominated by vehicles with excess loads or over dimension over loading (ODOL).
The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, stated that some violators were recorded committing offences up to three times. These violators have been given administrative sanctions in the form of written warnings.
“If the warnings are ignored, we will freeze their operational permits,” said Aan, quoted from a written statement on Monday, 23 March 2026.
Based on Kemenhub data, from H-8 to Eid day, 3,968 goods transport vehicles were diverted from 17 toll road sections at 54 points. These sections include the Inner City Toll Road, Jagorawi, Jakarta-Cikampek, Cipularang, to Trans Java routes such as Semarang-Solo and Surabaya-Gempol.
Based on monitoring via the RFID system at KM 54 B on the JORR E route from 13 to 21 March 2026, 158 goods transport vehicles with 3 to 5 axles still passed during the restriction period. All were indicated as violators because they fell into the ODOL category.
He mentioned that several companies with the most frequent violations include PT SIL, PT MUPM, PT IWE, PT FRI, and PT PF.
Nevertheless, Aan claimed that the implementation of these restrictions has had a significant impact on reducing the number of trucks passing through toll roads. The volume of goods transport vehicles in groups III to V decreased by 69.83 per cent, from 131,267 vehicles to 39,608 vehicles.
The restriction rules apply to vehicles with three axles and above, vehicles with trailers or attachments, as well as transport of mining products, excavations, and building materials.
