Ministry of Transportation Responds to Viral Video of Three-Axle Trucks Allegedly Escorted by TNI Members During Eid Exodus
JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has emphasised its commitment to enforcing regulations on goods transport restrictions during the 2026 Eid exodus, following the viral video of a convoy of container trucks allegedly escorted by TNI members on the Jakarta-Cikampek toll road.
Director General of Land Transportation at Kemenhub, Aan Suhanan, reminded that restrictions on vehicles with three or more axles have been agreed upon through a Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) between Kemenhub, the National Police (Polri), and the Ministry of Public Works (Kementerian PU).
“From the start, we have been committed, and we have agreed on a joint ministerial decree between the Ministry of Transportation, the Police, and the Ministry of Public Works. One of them is the restriction on goods transport with three or more axles,” said Aan during a press conference at Polda Metro Jaya, Jakarta, on Friday night (20/3/2026).
Regarding violations still occurring in the field, Aan emphasised that the police have taken firm action against transport operators who do not comply with the rules.
“The police have already taken firm action against operators who are still operating on the roads. In addition to ticketing, they have also diverted and blocked them from using the toll road,” he stated.
Previously reported, a video showing a convoy of container trucks escorted by individuals in TNI uniforms went viral on social media.
The incident was said to have occurred at Km 40 on Wednesday (18/3/2026), where at least eight container trucks were stopped for continuing to operate during the exodus restriction period.
“Come out, come out,” a traffic police officer said to the driver while mentioning the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB) in the video uploaded by the infotaposdepok account.
