The Ministry of Transportation (MoT) through the Integrated Eid Transport Centre Post 2026 recorded a 8.58 per cent increase in the number of Eid travellers using public transport compared to the 2025 Eid holiday period.

“Travellers using public transport remain high up to Eid day, but are still under control. The mode of transport most used is still the train,” said Head of the Bureau of Communication and Public Information Ernita Titis Dewi in her statement received in Jakarta on Monday (23/3), quoting Antara.

Cumulatively, passenger movements on public transport from H-8 on Friday (13/3) to Eid day on Saturday (21/3) reached 10,887,584 people. This figure shows an increase of 8.58 per cent compared to the 2025 Eid transport of 10,027,482 people.

The cumulative distribution by mode includes trains with 3,349,343 people, up 13.46 per cent from 2,952,055 people the previous year. Air transport with 2,397,192 people, up 2.95 per cent from 2,328,551 people.

Then, ferry transport with 2,664,004 people, up 14.01 per cent from 2,336,619 people, bus transport with 1,693,931 people, up 9.37 per cent from 1,548,874 people, and sea transport with 783,114 people.

On Eid day, Saturday, the MoT recorded public transport passenger movements reaching 873,916 people.

Based on daily data, public transport passenger departures on Eid day for trains totalled 364,649 people, consisting of 205,335 intercity passengers and 159,314 urban regional passengers.

Departures by air transport totalled 206,785 people, consisting of 155,675 domestic passengers and 51,110 international passengers. Departures by sea transport totalled 21,141 people and ferry transport 177,564 people.

Meanwhile, departures by land transport mode (bus passengers) totalled 103,777 people.

In addition to passenger movements, vehicle flows were also monitored at several transport nodes. On Eid day, vehicles exiting the Jakarta toll gate were recorded at 193,237 units, while those entering reached 122,074 units.

Total vehicle movements exiting and entering at the Jabodetabek toll gates were recorded at 380,753 units, and at non-Jabodetabek toll gates 353,546 units.

On arterial roads, vehicles exiting Jabodetabek were recorded at 601,275 units, and those entering at 460,089 units. Meanwhile, vehicle movements on non-Jabodetabek arterial roads reached 607,366 units.

The Ministry of Transportation urges the public to start anticipating the return flow, expected to peak on Tuesday (24/3) or H+3 Eid.

“We urge the public to plan return trips earlier to avoid peak times, and consider alternative travel schedules to reduce congestion, as well as ensure journeys remain safe and comfortable,” said Ernita Titis.
