Ministry of Transportation Records 12,419 Motorcycles Transported in 2026 Eid Motis Programme
The Directorate General of Railways (DJKA) of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) has recorded the realisation of the Free Motorcycle (Motis) programme for the 2026 Eid transport reaching 12,419 motorcycle units, as an effort to support the smooth flow of return travel and enhance public journey safety.
Director of Railway Traffic and Transport at DJKA Kemenhub, Arif Anwar, stated that the Motis programme was organised to reduce the number of two-wheeled returnees or motorcyclists on highways by diverting them to the safer and more comfortable mode of train transportation.
“Alhamdulillah, the Motis programme for the 2026 Eid transport has been enthusiastically welcomed by the public and ran smoothly,” said Arif in Jakarta on Thursday.
Arif mentioned that from the total quota provided of 11,900 motorcycle units, the transport realisation reached 12,419 units or 104.36 per cent of the target.
“That realisation does not include the contraflow transport which reached 1,304 motorcycle units that were still served even though they were not part of the initial target,” he said.
Arif stated that this achievement reflects the high enthusiasm and public trust in the Motis programme as a safe, comfortable, and efficient return travel solution.
“Going forward, we hope the Motis programme quota can continue to be increased so that its benefits can be more widely felt by the public,” he added.
It is known that the 2026 Motis programme served three main routes, namely the Northern Route (Jakarta Gudang-Cepu), Central Route (Jakarta Gudang-Lempuyangan), and Southern Route (Jakarta Gudang-Madiun).
With a regular motorcycle transport departure schedule, the public receives certainty of time and premium service. For example, the Southern Motis Train departing at dawn at 04.50 from Jakarta Gudang.
Not only about the numbers, DJKA is committed to continuously maintaining service quality, from the registration period (1-29 March 2026) to the handover of motorcycle units at the destination station.
Arif said that they will conduct a comprehensive evaluation of the 2026 Motis implementation as part of efforts to improve service quality.
That evaluation will cover all stages, from programme socialisation, registration process both online and offline, service at posts, data verification, packaging process, transport by train, to motorcycle handover at the destination location.
“Input from the public is our main concern to ensure that future Motis implementation is increasingly optimal and responsive to user needs,” explained Arif.
He emphasised that the success of the 2026 Motis programme is inseparable from the synergy between the government, operators, supporting partners, and all stakeholders.
Not only that, the compliance of the participating public who actively followed the Motis programme, including adhering to procedures, also contributed to the operational plan’s success.
Meanwhile, the success of the Motis programme in 2026 is a continuation of the positive trend of public trust that has been built for over a decade.
Historical data shows significant growth in Motis transport volume, starting from just 827 units in 2013, then surging rapidly to a peak of 19,141 units in 2019 before the pandemic.
He also said that although it was temporarily halted in 2021 due to COVID-19, the Motis programme quickly recovered and consistently served thousands of returnees each year, such as the 2024 realisation reaching 13,132 units.
According to him, the increase in realisation in 2026 broke through to 12,419 units or 104.36 per cent of the initial target of 11,900 units.
The Motis programme further reinforces DJKA Kemenhub’s commitment to providing a safe return travel solution that is awaited by the public.
“The synergy that has been established is the key to the success of this year’s Motis implementation, and we are committed to continuing to deliver an even better programme in the future,” said Arif.
