The Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, facilitated the repatriation of the body of a homecomer with the initials RP, who breathed her last while en route to Gilimanuk Port, Bali, on Wednesday morning (18/3). The deceased, a housewife, was travelling home to Central Java. However, the bus crew reported that the victim had passed away while the vehicle was still en route to the port. As a gesture of respect and care, Kemenhub collaborated with Polri, PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, and PT Pelindo to ensure the repatriation process was conducted appropriately until the body arrived at the funeral home in Kebumen, Central Java. “The body was dispatched at 14:00 WITA using KMP Dharma Kencana IX via the Gilimanuk-Ketapang route,” stated the Head of Public Relations and General Affairs of the Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Heri Junaedi Bakhri, in an official statement on Thursday (19/3). Upon arrival in Java, the Head of the Cilacap Navigation District was assigned to receive the body at the funeral home as a representation of Kemenhub’s presence for the deceased’s family. The Directorate General of Sea Transportation also extended deep condolences over RP’s passing. To date, it continues to coordinate with all stakeholders, including PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry, PT Pelindo, and security apparatus, to ensure the smooth and safe flow of the homecoming traffic in the Bali Strait area. Kemenhub also urged all homecomers to always pay attention to their health conditions before and during the journey, get sufficient rest, and immediately report to officers if experiencing health issues. The safety of lives remains the top priority in the homecoming journey.
