JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, conducted a surprise inspection (sidak) at the Green SM (Xanh SM) taxi depot in Bekasi, West Java, on Tuesday night (28/4/2026).

The raid aimed to ensure the implementation of the Public Transport Company Safety Management System (SMK PAU) was in accordance with regulations, as it relates to vehicle safety.

“In organising public transport, there are several elements that must be carried out in accordance with SMK PAU,” said Aan in a press release on Tuesday night.

Aan stated that the evening’s activity was carried out at the Green SM Bekasi depot, which is the operational origin location of the vehicle suspected to be involved in the accident.

The inspection focused on checking the completeness of administration, vehicle roadworthiness, fleet operational readiness, and other safety elements.

“We want to ensure that the safety management system in public transport companies, including Green SM, has been implemented in accordance with regulations. From the initial inspection results, there are several findings that we will investigate further,” he said.

He stated that further investigation would be conducted at the central Green SM depot in Kemayoran, Jakarta, the following day to obtain a comprehensive conclusion.

He mentioned that his side would coordinate with the police and the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) regarding the alleged involvement of the vehicle in the KRL Cikarang and KA Argo Bromo Anggrek accident incident.

Director of Road Transport Facilities and Safety, Yusuf Nugroho, who led the inspection, said that this raid is part of the supervision of the implementation of SMK PAU as mandated in Minister of Transportation Regulation (PM) No. 85 of 2018 on the Public Transport Company Safety Management System.

“In the event of an incident, the Directorate General of Land Transportation can conduct audits and inspections through observation and monitoring,” said Yusuf.

“So what we are doing is in accordance with Article 16 of PM 85 of 2018, that in certain conditions such as prominent or recurring traffic accidents, the Directorate General of Land Transport can conduct audits and inspections to ensure safety aspects,” explained Yusuf.

He stated that the results of the audit and inspection will later serve as the basis for providing recommendations, either in the form of safety system improvements or the imposition of administrative sanctions.

“Administrative sanctions are given if violations are found in the form of warning letters, licence suspensions up to licence revocations according to the level of the violation,” emphasised Yusuf.

As is known, the accident where the KA Argo Bromo Anggrek train hit the rear of the KRL at Bekasi Timur Station (27/4/2026) was triggered by an initial incident where an electric taxi stalled and blocked the KRL at the illegal level crossing JPL 85.
