JAKARTA — The Director General of Land Transportation at the Ministry of Transportation, Aan Suhanan, has officially stated that the Eid homecoming transportation flow for Lebaran 2026 has ended, coinciding with the designation of Eid al-Fitr 1447 H on Saturday (21 March 2026).

“Alhamdulillah, the homecoming flow has concluded and proceeded smoothly thanks to the hard work of all stakeholders, the TNI/Polri, toll road operators, transportation operators, and the public for complying with the rules enforced by officers in the field,” Aan said in a written statement in Jakarta on Saturday (21 March 2026).

Aan advised the public to avoid the peak return flow time, predicted for 24 March 2026. Based on data collected by Jasa Marga, Aan continued, the peak homecoming flow on 18 March 2026 was the highest in history.

He stated that more than 270,000 vehicles exited the four main toll gates, resulting in a simultaneous surge in vehicle numbers. The majority of vehicles leaving Jakarta headed towards the Trans-Java Toll Road, accounting for more than 50 percent.

“Considering the homecoming flow, with the work-from-anywhere (WFA) policy in place, returnees are expected to schedule their return to Jakarta before or after 24 March 2026 to ease the peak return flow, providing comfort and safety for road users and avoiding vehicle congestion on the roads,” Aan said.

Looking ahead, he mentioned that all stakeholders are preparing security and services for Takbiran activities and Eid al-Fitr 1447 H worship at all prayer locations. Additionally, traffic flow security will be implemented in tourist areas.

Specifically for logistics transportation, he also urged all goods owners, vehicle owners, and drivers to continue complying with the goods transportation restriction rules outlined in the Joint Ministerial Decree (SKB).

“As stipulated in the SKB, the goods transportation restrictions during this Lebaran transportation period apply to three-axle and above vehicles, goods vehicles with trailers, articulated vehicles, as well as goods vehicles carrying mining products, quarry results, and building materials. These rules apply until 29 March 2026. All those not covered by exceptions must comply,” Aan said.
