Ministry of Transportation: 10 Million Travellers Choose Public Transport
The Republic of Indonesia’s Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub), through the Integrated Eid Transport Command Post 2026, recorded cumulative public transport passenger movements from H-8 (13 March 2026) to H-1 (20 March 2026) for Eid al-Fitr 1447 H.
Head of the Bureau of Communication and Public Information of Kemenhub RI, Ernita Titis Dewi, stated that the number of holiday travellers using public transport during that period reached 10,003,583 people. This represents an increase of 9.23% compared to the 2025 Eid transport figure of 9,158,315 people.
Titis Dewi explained that the cumulative distribution by mode includes railways with 2,981,945 people, up 13.22% from 2,633,878 people. Then, air transport with 2,190,282 people, up 3.05% from 2,125,523 people.
Ferry transport with 2,482,303 people, up 14.78% from 2,162,708 people. Land transport with 1,587,060 people, up 9.18% from 1,453,679 people. Finally, sea transport with 761,993 people.
“In addition to passenger movements, vehicle flows were also monitored at several transport nodes,” said Titis in a written statement in Jakarta on Saturday (21/3/2026).
On H-1, vehicles exiting the Jakarta Toll Gate were recorded at 117,016 units, while those entering reached 66,210 units. Titis stated that the total vehicle movements exiting and entering at the Jabodetabek Toll Gates were 248,349 units, and at Non-Jabodetabek Toll Gates, 236,758 units.
“On arterial roads, vehicles exiting Jabodetabek were recorded at 474,454 units, and those entering at 360,479 units. Meanwhile, vehicle movements on Non-Jabodetabek arterial roads reached 491,901 units,” Titis added.
