The public demands fast, transparent, accountable, accessible, and corruption-free services. Jakarta - The Ministry of Transport is strengthening public service and oversight reforms through digitalisation, data system integration, and internal controls to accelerate public services and simplify bureaucracy.

“The public demands fast, transparent, accountable, accessible, and corruption-free services,” said Director General of Land Transportation Aan Suhanan in a statement in Jakarta on Monday.

The Directorate General of Land Transportation launched an Integrity Zone Development initiative at the Ministry of Transport headquarters to achieve clean, accountable, and high-performing governance.

Aan stated that the initiative is a first step towards accelerating the creation of Corruption-Free Zones (WBK) and Clean and Service-Oriented Bureaucratic Areas (WBBM) in public services.

“We must not be trapped in slow and rigid old work patterns. We need to be an adaptive, responsive, and agile organisation in meeting public needs,” Aan said.

He stressed that integrity zone development must be conducted simultaneously, comprehensively, and consistently across all units of the Directorate General of Land Transportation.

Aan also urged unit leaders to lead by example in driving a shift in mindset and work culture among officials from a ‘want to be served’ mentality to one of readiness to serve.

Furthermore, he said law enforcement in service units must be clean, firm, and authoritative.

“I emphasise there must be no room for transactional practices and abuse of authority. There are still public complaints regarding services, so corrections and evaluations are needed across all service units,” he said.

He added that service and oversight reforms are also being strengthened through digitalisation, data system integration, and strict internal controls to simplify bureaucracy and speed up public services.

In addition to services, the Directorate General of Land Transportation is also directing policies to enhance public safety.

Each unit, Aan said, must have clear, measurable, and accountable safety performance targets.

Road transport safety must be the top priority, he said, with all policies and programmes oriented towards reducing accidents and improving public safety.

“Oversight must be conducted professionally, transparently, and in line with standard operating procedures while prioritising integrity,” he said.
