Jakarta — The Directorate General of Land Transport under the Ministry of Transport officially dispatched participants of the Free Homecoming Transport Programme for Lebaran 2026, travelling to Aceh and Medan, from Pondok Cabe Type A Terminal in Tangerang Selatan, Banten.

The Director of Road Transport at the Directorate General of Land Transport, Muiz Thohir, stated that the free homecoming programme to Sumatra aims to facilitate citizens returning home, particularly to regions affected by disasters in late 2025.

“This free homecoming programme is being conducted to ensure the safety of citizens who wish to return home from their places of work,” said Muiz in a written statement in Jakarta on Monday (16/3/2026).

He emphasised that the government is working to facilitate public movement during the homecoming period to ensure it proceeds safely and smoothly until reaching their destination. Muiz also urged the public not to use motorcycles for homecoming journeys due to high safety risks.

“In accordance with the Transport Minister’s directive, this free homecoming programme to Aceh and Medan represents an effort to ease the burden on the public, especially for citizens with family members in disaster-affected areas,” he said.

The Ministry of Transport has provided 10 buses to transport 340 participants in the free homecoming programme to Aceh and Medan departing from Pondok Cabe Type A Terminal.
